Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRONALD (RON) STEWART CUMMING It is with deep sadness that the family announces Ron's passing on February 26, 2011. With his loving family surrounding him Ron went to be with the Lord. Ron was born March 21, 1932 in Winnipeg. He lived in the North End of Winnipeg, where he attended school. Ron met Joyce in May, 1951 at the West Kildonan Golf Course. After a couple of years Ron proposed to Joyce on Valentines Day (February 14, 1953). They were married on September 19, 1953. After Ron and Joyce got married they lived in an apartment in the North End of Winnipeg for three years. Ron and Joyce then moved to Transcona for 36 years, where they lived happily with all three of their children, and made numerous friends. During their years in Transcona, Ron also got to enjoy his grandchildren's visits. Eventually after retirement Ron and Joyce moved to North Kildonan. Ron was employed with C.N.R. for 38 years. His career provided an opportunity to be involved in many areas of work. He went from being a Machinist to Supervisor, Shop Foreman, and was a Project Manager. He retired as General Foreman of Maintenance. Ron loved sports. He played, watched, refereed, and coached hockey. He volunteered many hours of his time at the Pirates Community Club, and was Convener for the Greater Winnipeg Hockey Association. He also enjoyed playing golf, swimming, and curling. He loved gardening and took great pride in his tomatoes, cucumbers and flowers. Ron also loved travelling to see his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in Ontario and British Columbia, taking trips south and spending March in Hawaii. He was a member of Tabor Baptist Church and during the last few years was a member of Rowandale Baptist Church. Many thanks to Dr. Sawchuck and the nursing staff at Concordia Hospital, and all the staff at Kildonan Personal Care Centre for their care and kindness. Left to cherish Ron's memory is his wife of 57 years, Joyce; his children Blaine (Gail) Cumming, Cheryl (Stan) Marco, Bruce (Evelyn) Cumming; grandchildren, Tracy (Glen) Ford, Stephen Marco, Simone Cumming, and Michael Cumming; great-grandchildren, Desiree Babic, Alexis Marco, Logan Ford, Shayna Ford, Elissa Cumming-Wakeford; sisters, Shirley (Ed) Mulla, Kathleen Birston; brother Raymond (Joyce) Cumming, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
