Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALEXANDER OPRYSK November 10, 1926 - March 2, 2011 Peacefully on March 2, 2011, Alex, aged 84 years, went home into the loving arms of the Lord. Dad will be remembered and missed by his wife of 60 years, Maria; his daughters Anne, Darka (Brian), Olla and Lesia (Ian), his son Roman; grandchildren Lasha, Chad and Shanley and his five great-grandchildren. Alex was born on November 10, 1926, in a small village near Lviv, Ukraine. He served in the Armed Services during the Second World War, which led him to England where he met Maria. They began their life's journey together on August 20, 1950 when they were married in Rochdale, England. They immigrated to Canada to start a new life in 1952 and settled in Winnipeg. Our father had an amazing work ethic and was employed by Canadian Pacific Railway until his retirement in 1991. Dad's fondest moments in life included singing tenor with numerous choirs, reading historical books on Ukraine and making soup for his grandchildren. He loved spending time in the sun, tending to his garden and taking long walks. He was also very proud of his Ukrainian culture and was a devout Christian and parishioner of St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church for many years. We have many fond memories of family dinners with good food, great conversation and many laughs to cherish. The family would like to thank Poseidon Care Centre for their compassion and support. Prayers will be sung 7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main Street. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 7, at St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 400 Day Street with Father Greg Zubacz officiating. Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery. May his memory be eternal! VICHNAYA PAMYAT KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
