Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE SUMIO FUKUMURA Surrounded by his family at the Grace Hospital, Dad passed away on March 3, 2011 at the age of 82. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Debra (Gilles) Beaumont, Roberta (Mark) Stokes, Theresa (Albert) Wiens, Daniel (Cathy), Sheila (Gord Dillon), Michael (Lesley), and Linda (Darren) Dunn, also grandchildren, Melissa (Thom), Kristen, Andrew, Christopher, Caitlin, Liam, Treyton, and Jackson. Survived also by his brother Tony (Kay), sisters Clare (Sam) Matsuo, and Rosanne (Paul) Yoshimasu, and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Hana and Kunisaburo and our beloved mother Rita. Dad was born April 2, 1928 in Vancouver, BC and moved to Winnipeg as a teen. He owned and operated Town and Country Decorators for many years after which he became a counselor / foreman with the Winnipeg Home Improvement Project with the Provincial Government until his retirement. His many interests included playing cards, following the Blue Bombers, attending horse races at The Assiniboia Downs, or spending a sunny day on the golf course with his sons-in-law, grandsons and friends. He spent many happy times wintering in Weslaco, Texas following his retirement, but his happiest times were spent with his family. The family would like to thank Dr. Kramer, Dr. Mallick and the caring staff of 3N and ICU at the Grace Hospital, Home Care, and Dr. Leung Shing for his many years of care. Cremation has taken place as per his wishes and a memorial service will be held on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg.
