Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMABEL JANE CHARTRAND Peacefully on March 5, 2011, Mabel Jane, our sister, sister-in-law, auntie and great-auntie passed away peacefully at the Taché Centre, at the age of 84. Mabel was born at home in St. Laurent, MB on November 27, 1926. She leaves behind her brothers Robert (Pauline), Hervé (Isabel), Johnny (Denise) and Ronald (Paulette); sisters Celia, Diane (Ken), Edith (Don), and her sister-in-law Jeanette, also many nieces and nephews, numerous great-nieces and nephews, as well as extended family and friends. Mabel was predeceased by her parents Léon and Eva, brothers and sisters-in-law, Wilfred (Thérèse), Denis (Florence), Clément and sister Stella and brother-in-law Etienne Boyer. Mabel left St. Laurent at age 17 to work at the St. Boniface Hospital. Stricken with tuberculosis in the late 1940s, she spent seven years at the then St. Boniface Sanatorium regaining her health. Throughout her working years Mabel held many secretarial and clerical positions and eventually retired from the Provincial Government. Mabel volunteered for Peace and Development and also many years at Taché Centre before she became a resident after being diagnosed with Alzheimers. Her family would like to thank Dr. Coates and the wonderful staff at 5A Taché Centre for all the care and compassion shown Mabel during the past five years. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 12 at the St. Laurent Roman Catholic Church, St. Laurent, MB. Reciting of the rosary and viewing will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by mass at 11:00 a.m., with Father Michel Nault officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Taché Centre, 185 Despins Street, Winnipeg, MB R2H 2B3. Rest in peace until we meet again.
