WAYNE BJORGVIN JONAS JONASSON It is with great sadness, that the family of Wayne Jonasson announces his passing on March 11, 2011, with his family by his side. He will be missed and fondly remembered by his wife of 31 years, Darlene; children Pamela (Adam), Megan (Nick) and grandson Austin. Wayne was predeceased by his father Bjorgvin; father-in-law Paul and brother-in-law John. He also leaves to remember him, his mother Barbara; sisters Ann (Lyle), Susan (Maurice), Candace (David); brother Sheldon (Cathy); mother-in-law Mary; brothers-in-law Allan (Susan), Jerry (Sandi), Andre (Cathy), Doug (Tricia); sisters-in-law Evelyn (Larry), Stephanie and Debbie and many nieces and nephews who are all honorary pallbearers. Wayne was born on April 30, 1957 in Gimli, Manitoba. He grew up on the farm, (Djupdal), Geyser, Manitoba. In 1977, Wayne started his career with MTS, which spanned 34 years and took him to many parts of Manitoba, which included Thompson and Killarney, then returning to Winnipeg in 1988 where he expanded his career into technical support. During those 34 years, he made many lifelong friendships which he cherished dearly. Wayne was a true people person; he loved everyone and everyone loved him. That was evident by the numerous friendships that he kept. He was a devoted husband, loving father and doting papa. He reveled in the countless weekends spent camping with family and friends at Spruce Sands, Birds Hill and Lee River. Many nights were spent around a campfire singing country songs and making campfire pies. Over the past few years, Wayne was an important member of the Parks and Property committee for the Icelandic Festival of Manitoba, where true to his nature, he forged many new friendships. This was also a tradition that he shared with his daughters - and later son-in-laws and his grandson - bringing the family back to his roots every year. He will be greatly missed and the time that he graced our lives will be forever cherished. Our family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and Staff at Riverview Health Centre (3 East Wing) and CancerCare Manitoba for the care and support given to Wayne and his family during his brave fight with his illness. Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., with interment to follow. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Riverview Health Centre and CancerCare Manitoba. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111 www.gleneden-mb.ca
