DENNIS WAYNE MCGONIGAL December 14, 1951 - March 8, 2011 It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our husband, father, son, brother, brother-in-law and uncle. Remaining to forever cherish Dennis' memory are his beloved wife Judy of 33 years, children Kelly, Krista and Keegan; father Melvin, mother Ruth, brothers Jeff (Danette) and Darren, sister Carolyn (Earl), many nieces, nephews, in-laws and close friends. Dennis worked as a surveyor with Parks Canada for 32 years, which took him travelling to many parts of Canada that the majority of people have never been, only heard of or seen on a map. During his work he embraced new technology and was always interested in computers, GPS and GIS. This interest in technology carried on after he retired four years ago. Through all the seasons his greatest joy and retreat was the cabin at Moosomin Lake walking his favorite friend his dog Dakotah through the hills and lake front. He enjoyed all the family and friend get togethers and activities. Dennis dearly loved and was very proud of his children he loved the outdoors in addition to the lake he enjoyed.taking them camping, on canoe trips, skiing and participated in as many of their hobbies as possible. He coached many of their hockey teams, embraced and gave 100% to bring fun, good work ethic and enthusiasm to all children involved. He was smart, very articulate, full of life, laughter and fun. Dennis loved to tease and joke with people. He had outstanding knowledge and a true passion for music. Dennis was nothing like what this addiction made him near the end, with glimmers of hope that life was going to change. It was a hopeless, helpless feeling to see the husband, father, son and brother we knew struggling to fight the fight but alas now Dennis's fight is over. Let peace be with him. We know deep in our hearts that you loved us and we loved you very much. God grant me the serenity To accept the things I cannot change The courage to change the things I can And the wisdom to know the difference The family would like to thank Dr. Plewes, Dr. Van Der Merwe and all staff at Southeast Integrated Care Centre, Moosomin, to all our friends and family for all their support, and to everyone who tried to help Dennis in his darkest hours for all their kindness and support. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Carscadden Funeral home, 614 Birtle Street in Moosomin, Saskatchewan. Celebration of Life will be held in Winnipeg on Monday, March 21, 2011 7:30 p.m. at Roblin Park Community Centre, 640 Pepperloaf Cres., Charleswood, Winnipeg. Those wishing to make donations in memory of Dennis are encouraged to donate to the Southeast Integrated Care Centre, Moosomin or any Addictions Foundation of choice, never give up hope.
