ROY SMITH With heavy hearts, we announce the loss of our Dad and Grandpa, Roy Smith. Roy passed away suddenly but peacefully on March 15, 2011. Roy is loved and remembered by his daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Shaun Proutt, his grandchildren, Ryan Kostynuik and Kimberly Proutt; his son, Darren and girlfriend Janeen, and grandchildren, Amy and Tristan. Roy had a very colourful, interesting life including a 30 plus year career with the Federal Government where he became known as the expert in construction and quality of airport runways. Roy retired in 1995, and enjoyed many hours walking in his neighbourhood, popping in for a few pints at the local pub, lunches with Shaun and dinners with the family. Sports were Roy's passion playing and coaching soccer, watching NFL football (Vikings), golf, curling, and hockey. You were truly a unique man witty, intelligent, loving, caring, determined and proud. You always stayed true to what you believed in. Our memories of your wonderful sense of humour will live on. A special thank you to Dad's longtime neighbours and friends, Dennis and Yvonne. A private celebration of Roy's life will be held at a future date. Donations in Roy's memory may be made to The Arthritis Society.
