WILLIAM SALKI 1917- 2011 Papa Willie passed peacefully in his sleep at Seven Oaks Hospital late Sunday night, March 20, 2011 at the age of 93 years. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, Anne (Okrusko). He is survived by his son Alexander (Catherine) Salki and his daughter Patricia (Albert) Shrupka; his grandchildren Suzanne (Brian) Ketcheson, Pamela (Mark) Rolland, Matthew Salki, Kerri (Francois Dufour) Salki, Patrick (Kim) Shrupka, Kevin (Christie) O'Neill-Salki, and Jennifer O'Neill-Salki; and his great-grandchildren Kayla, Ashton, Alexa, Zachary, Samuel, Kasey and Alexandra. A Second World War veteran, Willie was proud of his contributions on behalf of his country. He was a long-time parishioner of St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, belonged to Kildonan Seniors Horizon, and worked at the CNR Woodworking Shop for many years. He was a master craftsman with a passion for woodworking no family project was too big or small. Above all, family was everything to Papa Willie and any family event was a special occasion. Since Anne's passing seven years ago, Willie has lived with his daughter and son-in-law in West St. Paul, surrounded by loving family who will never forget his dry humor and quick wit. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 455 Douglas Ave., at 11:30 am Saturday, March 26, Rev. Fr. Mark Gnutel officiating, assisted by the Rt. Rev. Canon Walter Klimchuk. The family welcomes you to join them in celebrating Willie's life following the service. Interment to follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in memory of William Salki to the Lake Winnipeg Foundation (1-1660 Kenaston Blvd., Box 70034, Winnipeg, MB R3P 0X6), or St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church Building Fund (455 Douglas Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2G 0Y3).
