FLORENCE MABEL PEARCE July 21, 1904 - March 10, 2011 Peacefully at the Sharon Personal Care Home on Thursday, March 10, Florence Pearce beloved mother of Robert passed away at the age of 106. Florence was predeceased by her husband Frank, her four sisters Beatrice, Gladys, Ivy and Irene and her daughter-in-law Betty. She was survived by her loving son Robert who since passed away on March 14. Grandma will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Jack (Ingrid), Jim (Sharon), Bill (Vikki), Jeff (Cindy), great-grandchildren Jaclyn (Jeff), Tracy, Jamie, Jay, Aric and great-great-granddaughter Mia. Florence was born in Somerset, England and came to Fort William, Ontario in 1912. Florence and Frank met and were married in Fort William where their son Robert was born in 1925. The family moved to Winnipeg a few years later. Grandma was employed by the City of Winnipeg and worked at City Hall until her retirement in 1969. Grandma was a great cook. She was famous for her Sunday roast beef dinners with dark gravy and desserts of mincemeat tarts and Imperial cookies. She continued to bake well into her nineties and we all looked forward to our Christmas goody package. Gardening and bingo were her other passions. The family extends a special thanks to the Sharon Personal Care Home and the compassionate and caring staff on the 3rd floor.
