Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAIKO OKANO 1916 - 2011 Passed away peacefully at Lion's Manor, with her daughter at her side, on March 24, 2011. She was predeceased by her husband Kazuo Okano on January 5, 2009; son Howard; parents Kiku and Sankichi Nogami; sisters Yuki Nogami and Nobu Lee; brothers Shigeru and Tomatsu; father-in-law Mosaburo Okano; mother-in-law Tane; brothers-in-law Russel Okano (Irene) and Norman Okano and sisters-in-law Haruko (Tamotsu Mitani) and Tazuko (Hisao Hamada). Mom was born in Steveston, BC, on May 12, 1916 and would have been 95 years old. She leaves to mourn son Joe (Miyoko); daughter Evelyn; granddaughter Kimberley (Tom); grandson Kyle (Shelley); great-grandchildren Lauren, Matthew and Aaron; brother Hiroshi Nogami and many nieces and nephews in Winnipeg and Vancouver. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Lion's Manor for their care and compassion during the past year. Cremation has already taken place and a private family memorial service will be held at the Manitoba Buddhist Temple officiated by Rev. Fredrich Ulrich. Mom and dad's ashes will be taken to the Okano family plot in Maple Ridge, BC for burial. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Manitoba Buddhist Temple, 39 Tecumseh Street, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0J8, The Manitoba Japanese Cultural Centre, 180 McPhillips Street, Winnipeg, MB R3E 2J9 or to Lion's Manor, 320 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3B 2W6.
