Date of Passing: Mar 20, 2011
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID ALEXANDER MIDDLETON MANN May 1, 1948 - March 20, 2011 Dave passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 20, 2011. He was born in Winnipeg on May 1, 1948. It was there that he met and married the love of his life, JoAnn, on March 22, 1989. Along with JoAnn, Dave will be lovingly remembered by his son David (Shannon and her daughter Courtney); daughter Christie (granddaughters, Jade and Rain); sister Donna (Darren and Michelle and family, who said Uncle Mid was a cool uncle); brothers, Garry (Diandra, Kristian and Terry) and Kevin; and especially his parents Betty and Gerry Lilley. Dave was predeceased by his dad David A. Mann in 1952. Dave will also be sorely missed by JoAnn's family in Winnipeg and Texas. Dave had great friends back home, many made by the thirty plus years he worked as a baker for Canada Safeway. His skills as a baker were surpassed only by his sense of humour. He lived to make people laugh and laugh we did, right up to the very end. Dave loved animals and seemed to have an uncanny connection with them. From baby birds landing on his chest as he soaked up the sun at Twin Beaches to Kim and Darrell's cat, Boots, coming to visit over the fence and through the window. He loved them all. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Desiree Hao and all Dave's nurses and caregivers at Tom Baker. A memorial will be held in Winnipeg at Chapel Lawn on April 23, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made in Dave's honour directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, in care of Tom Baker Cancer Centre, 1331 - 29 Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 4N2 Telephone: 1 (866) 412-4222, www.albertacancer.ca/memorial or to the local Humane Society. You may forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of Dave Mann, a tree will be planted at Big Hill Springs Park, Cochrane by McINNIS HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot Chapel, 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W. Telephone: 1 800 661-1599.
