Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOUGLAS WALLIS 1922 2011 After a long and happy life, Doug passed away peacefully at Concordia Hospital with his family by his side, on April 10th, 2011. Doug will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of 61 years Jean and his four children Betty Ann (Clem), Bonnie (Bill), Bob (Jan) and Sherry (Gord) as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Krista, Rhianne, Jesse, Chelsea, Damon (Mackie, Rona, Rei, Kaiya and Kira) and Aaron (Stacey, Ben and Beth). He was predeceased by his mother and father Verna and John Wallis and his brother Harold. Dad was born in Winnipeg on July 22, 1922. He completed his school years here then joined the Navy during the Second World War. After that he began to work as a salesman, which took him to Saskatoon where he met and married his wife Jean in 1950. Dad's life from a teenager was filled with music he learned to play the piano from his many friends who took piano lessons. He could always be found playing the piano and the ukulele as well as singing and dancing up a storm. He was the life of any party! The party he loved best in his later years was the family sing-song at the lake which happened every summer. Thanks Bob, Linda and Larry! He returned to Winnipeg with his family in 1960. He worked his way up the ranks at E.H. Price to become Vice-President of Manufacturing. While work was important to him he was also an avid golfer and the ECRIP tournament, which the boys at Price arranged every year found him and his many friends ending their golf season with fun, music and laughter. Dad's passing leaves a big hole in the lives of his family and friends and he will be missed. His sense of humour full of infamous one-liners will be remembered with laughter and a smile! A celebration of Dad's life will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. A private family interment will be held. In lieu of flowers should friends so desire, donations may be made to The Manitoba Schizophrenia Society or a charity of your choice. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111 www.gleneden-mb.ca

I enjoyed talking with you, Jean. You & Doug & your family shared fun times together with our family. Doug reminds me of Dad . . .piano playing, laughing, enjoying fun! You and Mom raising young kids and helping each other . . .my funniest memory is when we had Thanksgiving dinner together and the turkey blew the oven up. Please say hi to your kids, and give them my compassion for their Dad passing...I know there is spirit life after death, so let's focus and send Doug, Don & Del them our love; we'll meet again.
