HERTA EHMANN March 2, 1928 - April 15, 2011 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Herta Ehmann (nee Foss) on April 15, 2011 at the age of 83. Mom passed away at Seven Oaks General Hospital after courageously battling illness for many years. Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 57 years, Otto; her daughter Doris; and her brother Waldemar (Lydia), along with extended family and many friends. She was predeceased by her brothers, Edward, Albert, Erwin; and her parents, Emil and Olga Foss. Mom was born in Poland of German parents. She immigrated to Canada from Germany where she joined her fiancée, Otto in 1953. They married and made their home in Winnipeg where she raised her daughter Doris with a tender and loving heart. Upon her arrival in Winnipeg, she first worked in a sewing factory. She also held a position at The Kourier, a German language newspaper publication and then moved on to work at Eaton's in the Mail Order department for the last 15 years of her career. Mom loved the outdoors, especially tending to her garden and enjoyed many pastimes at the cottage in Petersfield. She enjoyed family camping vacations and travels to Europe, Florida, Hawaii and Mexico. Mom was an extremely strong and courageous individual. She bravely faced many medical challenges without ever any complaint. She leaves us with a legacy of incredible strength, dignity, integrity and so much wisdom. We love you and will miss you deeply. We are grateful to Dr. Lander and Heather Mackenzie at the Health Sciences Centre, as well as the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital whom we thank for all the care they provided to Mom. Funeral and celebration of life will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Don Engel officiating at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. Interment and reception to follow. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Seven Oaks General Hospital Foundation. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111 www.gleneden-mb.ca
