Date of Passing: Apr 15, 2011
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHEILA SONYA STOBIE (nee JOHNSTON) August 5, 1934 - April 15, 2011 After a sudden, but brief, illness Sheila (Sonya) Stobie passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre on Friday, April 15, 2011 with family by her side. Left to cherish memories of Mom are her daughter Diane Hook (Bill), son James Stobie (Debbie), the prides of her life, grandchildren Timothy, Karina and Kevin, her sister Eleanor Gordon and brother Scott Johnston as well as many nieces and nephews. Mom was an amazing crafter, sewer and gardener and enjoyed these hobbies immensely, but her biggest enjoyment in life was her Grandchildren. She was an extremely active Grandmother who supported all their activities piano, basketball and hockey. Either baking cookies for a hockey team road trip or endless casseroles of Mac and Cheese Mom was always baking up a storm. Her other pride was her cottage where she enjoyed spending quality time with her family. In accordance with Mom's wishes cremation has taken place and a private family celebration will be held. Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry: I am not there, I did not die. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Arthritis Society in Mom's memory.
