DOROTHY JOAN DYCK (nee DIXON) It is with sad hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Dorothy Joan Dyck on Sunday, April 24, 2011 at Riverview Health Centre. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Dyck, who passed away in 2006. Dorothy Joan will always be remembered as a vibrant spirit by those who knew and loved her. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, Tim Dyck (Elaine Gross), sister Pat Campbell (Laird), brother Ken Dixon (Chris), and many other relatives and close friends. Dorothy Joan and Johnny were married in May, 1956 and settled in the Elmwood / East Kildonan area where they were very involved in all of Tim's sports activities throughout the years. They were very social people and enjoyed many nights celebrating with their bowling team or socializing over cards with friends and relatives. Dorothy Joan enjoyed her clothes and spent many happy hours shopping at her favourite stores at Polo Park. She was always dressed with style and flair. Dorothy Joan was a people person and enjoyed her many years working in The Bay's china department and, more recently, volunteering at Ten Thousand Villages. Dorothy had many longtime friendships which she treasured to the end. She was an independent, strong-willed lady with a positive attitude, who lived each day to the fullest. A celebration of Dorothy's life will take place on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 2:00 p.m., at Thomson In the Park , 1291 McGillivray Blvd. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Palliative Homecare and the Riverview Health Centre for their kind and attentive care. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make a donation in Dorothy's memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 109-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. THOMSON IN THE PARK 925-1120
