RODOLFO (RUDY) PANGILINAN CONCEPCION September 25, 1943 - April 27, 2011 Suddenly on April 27, 2011, Rodolfo Rudy Pangilinan Concepcion, passed away. Left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 37 years, Josefina Josie , children: Ariel Joddie (Robin), Cecille Joy (Philip) O'Gorman, Edwin Michael; and grandchildren: Jailen Kaiya and Niamh Rizal. He also leaves to mourn his mother, Virginia, and siblings: identical twin brother whom he greatly treasured, Rey (Vicky) in Jersey City, Ruben (Virginia), Rosalinda Sally (Maximilian) Panzo, and those residing in the Philippines, Rebecca (Eddie) Villegas, Rolando, and Susan (Hermes) Mayrina. He was predeceased by his father, Exequiel, in 1970. Rudy will be sadly missed by his large extended family, as well as his many friends in the Bicol Association of Manitoba, Knights of Columbus, Mabuhay Serenaders, Magdaragat Philippines Folk Arts Inc., Penafrancia Prayer Group, St. Peters Church Choir, and Volunteers Without Borders. Rudy was born in Tondo, Manila, Philippines and grew up in San Simon and Angeles City. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, majoring in Political Science, from Far Eastern University, Manila in 1968. Rudy immigrated to Winnipeg with his wife and eldest son in February 1978. Rudy loved his wife. He was a good father and was proud of his children. He was a loving Lolo (grandfather) and expressed great love for and pride of Jailen and Niamh. Rudy was a dedicated employee, never calling in sick once at any of the jobs he held. Rudy was employed at Dominion Lumber from 1978 to 1981. He then worked at Western Engine (Western Reman) from 1981 to 2002. Rudy bravely became a student again, achieving a Health Care Aid Diploma from Herzing College in 2003 at the age of 60. He worked with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority until his retirement in 2010. He held a casual position with Elections Canada until his death. Rudy was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 1999. After a courageous battle with the illness, he beat it and was declared cancer-free in 2001. Rudy loved to travel and enjoyed the sights of Japan, England, Italy, France, and Ireland. One of his most favourite vacations was recently returning home to the Philippines in September 2010. Rudy also loved gardening, music, and dancing. He had a great sense of humour and made many people laugh with his jokes and funny ways. Lamay (Wake) will be held on Thursday, May 5 and Friday, May 6 from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. The Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7 at St. Peter's Church, 748 Keewatin St., presided by Msgr. Maurice Comeault. Interment will be at Glen Lawn Funeral Home. Pallbearers are: Job Aguilar, Paul Bobiles, Robert Evaristo, Ronnie Maco, Emile Paul, Manny Reyes, Juanito Sy and Ben Villanueva. Our family would like to extend their most heartfelt appreciation to all of their family and friends for their endless support and love during this extremely challenging time. May the road rise to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand. We love you and will remember you always.
