DARCY STEFAN SIGURDSON August 1, 1963 - May 1, 2011 With intense sorrow we announce the sudden death of Darcy Stefan Sigurdson, beloved father of Tristan Sigurdson, who will miss him tremendously. Also mourning his death are parents Maurice and Sylvia Sigurdson from Arborg, Manitoba, his sister Maureen Malkowich, (sons Addison and Garrett), brothers Jeffrey (son Braeden), Eric (wife Tanya, daughters Zia and Shay), grandmother Monica Sigurdson, all from Manitoba, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins. He will be missed by many good friends he made while working in Alberta. Darcy was raised in Arborg, Manitoba, where he received his early education. His work life began with Manitoba Hydro, always in the north. He got his trade ticket with Hydro, and became very active with IBEW. He left this position when becoming a single dad required more regular work hours and access to child care; this decision brought Darcy and Tristan to Alberta, where he worked in High Level then to Fort McMurray. In 2010, he and Tristan moved to Edmonton where Darcy could travel to his job for Cameco at Key Lake, Saskatchewan. Just last month Darcy began a new position for Husky Oil out of Cold Lake, Alberta as Maintenance Foreman. Darcy spent alot of his spare time outdoors; hunting, fishing and exploring the many areas of interest in whatever place he called home or was visiting with his friends. Tristan was almost always by Darcy's side on these excursions. Darcy's greatest accomplishment will always be that of raising his son, Tristan, and he was extremely proud of all Tristan's talents and accomplishments. We, his grieving family, are proud beyond words or expression for Darcy's dedication and determination in Darcy's many accomplishments, but most of all in his providing the best upbringing he could for Tristan. Darcy and Tristan were always close, best friends as well as father and son from the day Tristan was born. Darcy was exceptionally well read, could discuss any topic; challenging us always to read, think and discuss [frankly, often argue!] any subject. Darcy's death has left a huge hole in our lives. Rest in peace, Darcy, we will always love and will always miss you. Memorial service will be Tuesday, May 10, 2011 in the Arborg Hall at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
