YVONNE PHILION (nee DESCOTEAUX) It is with great sadness the family announces the unexpected passing of Yvonne Philion on Saturday, May 7, 2011. She was born on October 29, 1929. Mom was predeceased by husband Alphonse, daughter Irène and son-in-law Denis; siblings: Maria, Lucienne, Cécile, Yvette, Louis, Victore. She leaves behind her sons: Denis (Joyce), Lucien (Joyce), Gérard (Virginia); her daughters: Hélène (Ron), Aline (Ron), Béatrice (Greg), Louise (Richard), Yolande (Robert), Simone (Ernie) and her sister Thérèse; 31 grandchildren and spouses as well as 22 great-grandchildren. She will be sorely missed; we loved her dearly. Mom worked as a nurse's aide on the children's ward at the St. Boniface General Hospital for 17 years, retiring in 1994. Mom was a devout Roman Catholic and her faith was unwavering. Her passions in life were raising her family of 10 children, knitting, reading, spending time at the lake, travelling and entertaining family and friends. She especially loved Christmas. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the staff at Catherine Place and Seven Oaks Hospital (3rd floor). The care and kindness shown to Mom and our family was greatly appreciated during this time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Canadian Diabetes Foundation, 200 - 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6. Prayers will be held on Friday, May 13 at 7:30 p.m. in St. Emile Roman Catholic Church, 556 St. Anne's Road. Funeral Mass will take place Saturday, May 14 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Emile Roman Catholic Church. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E. J. COUTU CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 680 Archibald St. 253-5086
