ROMANO ANTONIO FAVA Peacefully on Friday, May 13, 2011, with family by his side, Romano passed away at the Grace Hospice, after a short courageous battle with cancer at the age of 65 years. Romano was predeceased by his wife Filomena in 1998. He will be deeply missed by his children, Silvio, Gino (Angela), Roberto, Luciano (Amaris) and numerous brothers and sisters in Italy. His memory will be cherished by his grandchildren, Anthony, Nicholas and Isabella. Dad was born on January 7, 1946 in Torano, Castello, Italy. He met Filomena in Italy, fell in love and got married. They moved to Winnipeg to start their ever growing family. Romano worked at the Marlborough Hotel for over 20 years, then Canad Inns. He was a banquet manager, setting up for beautiful events. Nothing was more important to him than his family, spending family dinners and holidays together, where he enjoyed cooking large meals and drinking wine. He was quite a loving person, always putting others before himself. He could spend hours in the garden or tending to the grape vine. Romano always enjoyed the company of his grandchildren, it always put a smile on his face. God saw you getting tired, So He wrapped you in His loving arms And whispered Come with Me . You suffered much in silence. Your spirit did not bend. You faced your pain with courage, Until the very end. You tried so hard to stay with us. Your fight was not in vain. God took you in His loving arms And saved you from the pain. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave. Viewing will be held one hour prior to Mass. Interment in Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Ave. Thank you to the nurses and aides at the St. Boniface Palliative Care and the Grace Hospice. Pallbearers are Silvio Fava, Gino Fava, Roberto Fava, Luciano Fava, Franco Falvo and Bernie Britton.
