IVY OWCHAR Peacefully, on Sunday, May 15, 2011, at the Gimli Community Health Centre, Ivy Owchar, aged 78 years, of Winnipeg Beach, MB. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 18, at 11:00 a.m. in the Winnipeg Beach United Church, with Rev. Beth McLean officiating. Full obituary to follow. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.

I was one of several foster children "Auntie Ivy" raised. I was there from age 7 till I was 12 with my brother Ron. She often had up to 12 of us in her care at one time, as she wouldn't break up siblings. Her heart was in the right place, and I learned some good lessons from her.
