As pre-teeners, Wally and I explored every nook and cranny in our neighborhood and most of downtown Winnipeg. 'Trouble', no; the only time we were in trouble is when the ticket taker at the local Rocky theatre caught us smuggling in a brick of ice-cream. She was my landlady, and so let us off with strict warnings. In 1956, Wally was my Best-man at the wedding of a Winnipeg girl from the North End to me. How many things went wrong on that morning, were innumerable, but Wally and his parents weeded it all to smoothness, so that I faced the ceremony with a steady mind, but with wobbling knees. He remained in Winnipeg as a film splicer and projectionist, while Louise and I moved to Edmonton, where I become a tradesman, retired now. Wally and I then parted, but he was often in my thoughts as another bunted my side while we walked together, one of Wally's attention getters. May he still be doing that in his new surroundings.
