Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH (BETTY) REITER (nee Bowman) It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Betty, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, at the age of 78 years at the Grace Hospital on May 22, 2011. Mom was born November 22, 1932 and is survived by her husband Leo of 50 years, her daughters Karen Veal and Patti Roy (Larry Carriere), her son Lance (Lisa) and her six grandchildren; Rochelle, Nicole, Janelle, Jackson, Ethan and Carson. Mom and Dad met in 1959 when Dad taught Mom how to drive the standard car she bought from him. Dad had placed an ad on the company bulletin board, selling a car he had won at bingo. Mom answered his ad and bought the car but did not know how to drive it and so it began... Mom and Dad married on August 27, 1960 and had three children. Mom was a bookkeeper but spent the early years staying home with her children. She later went back to work at various different places. Mom liked to travel. As a family we did a lot of camping and took many trips to BC to visit Grandma. In 1976 we took the camper and drove to Disneyland in California. In 1997 Mom and Dad travelled to Europe for the trip of the lifetime, spending 17 days in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and France. Mom's grandchildren were the love of her life. She spent many hours at soccer fields or school gyms watching her girls play sports and looked forward to her visits to Edmonton and Red Lake to visit her boys. Mom made friends wherever she went. She loved going for lunch and playing cards with the ladies in her condo. A memorial service will be held on May 26, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at The United Church in Meadowood, 1111 Dakota Street, Winnipeg, with Rev. Shelly Manley-Tannis presiding. A private family interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. We love you Mom, you will be missed but never forgotten. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca. Glen Lawn Funeral Home 982-7550
