CAMILLO CAVALIERI With great sorrow we announce that Camillo Cavalieri passed away after a brave battle with cancer at the age of 80. He leaves to mourn his son Silvano (Melodye); daughter Franca (Andy); and granddaughters, Michelle and Aimee. He was predeceased by his wife Rina in 2006. Camillo was born in Bergamo, Italy on December 22, 1930. He worked in Switzerland where he met Rina in 1956. They married in 1957 and moved to Canada in 1959. Camillo was a man of few words but always got his point across. He was a very devoted husband, who always put his family first. He was married to Rina for 49 years and cared for her deeply, especially during her illness of nine years. A painter by trade for all his life. He had a passion for animals and the outdoors. He enjoyed playing and watching sports. Camillo loved to travel and he spent the last few years exploring the world, visiting friends and family. We want to express sincere thanks to the nurses of Palliative home care and the home care workers. A special thank-you to Jimmy, Leo and Martina for all their kindness and respect towards Camillo in his time of need. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Claudia and Rick Mamros (Camillo's niece) for coming to Winnipeg to help Camillo during his illness and celebrating his last Easter together. A private funeral mass was held on May 20, 2011 at Holy Rosary Church with Father Sam Argenziano officiating. Pallbearers were A.J., Rick, Tony, Adam, Bill and Jack. He was laid to rest in The Garden of Peace at 1501 Waverley Street. In lieu of flowers, please donate to CancerCare Manitoba.
