Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDITH MARY MILLAR (DAWSON) June 4, 1918 - May 29, 2011 It is with sadness, but some relief for the end of her suffering, that we announce the death of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She has left for her final outing. She is predeceased by her husband, Terry Millar. She was the eldest daughter of William and Jane Dawson and the last of their five children. Except for a few years in Flin Flon, Mom spent most of her life in Winnipeg and raised her family there. She worked for Eatons for many years. Her life was not always easy, but she met every challenge with stoicism and strength. In our growing years she somehow managed to spoil us even when she didn't have anything. She sacrificed so much of herself, and we were all grateful for the chance to reciprocate when we grew up. She delighted in visiting us when we lived in different provinces, and we were happy to show her new places and experiences. Mom was very generous. Her grandchildren all remember being the recipients of gifts from her on any or no pretext. She lived in her own apartment right until the end. Our mother loved to go out and do things, almost anything. She was always game for an outing, whether it was riding in a car for hours to a dinner in a remote community or just going downstairs to her building's lounge to listen to music with a friend. She hated sitting around. She will be remembered by her daughter Sharon (Jerry) Roddy; and her sons, Barry (Doreen) and Douglas (Heather); as well as her grandchildren, Lisa, Todd, Ryan, Eric and Christopher; and her great-grandchildren, Andrew, Jacob and Sophia. There will be no service, but we encourage all of her remaining friends and family to take a moment to remember our mother and her approach to life.
