GERTRUDE STELLA KASPERSKI November 2, 1918 - June 13, 2011 On Monday, June 13, 2011 Gertrude Stella Kasperski passed away at the age of 92. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Sophie (Kabusiak) Kasperski, and brothers Anthony and William Kasperski. She is survived by sisters Helen Corkery of White Rock, BC, and by Eva Jewitt of Indian Head, SK, along with several nieces and nephews. Gertrude is also survived by her loving friends Betty and Shirley Peterson of Winnipeg. Auntie Gert was born and raised in Admiral, SK. She attended Teacher's College in Saskatoon and went on to a teaching career that spanned some 40 years, taking her from one room schools in rural Saskatchewan, to Department of Defense schools in Europe, to teaching primary grades in Winnipeg. She loved teaching and was very proud to be a teacher. Auntie Gert also took an avid interest in the lives of her nieces and nephews. Funeral service for Gertrude Stella Kasperski will take place at Glen Lawn Funeral Home on Thursday, June 16 at 2:00 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined, donations may be made in Gert's memory to Literacy for Life' at the Winnipeg Foundation, 1350 One Lombard Place, Winnipeg, MB R3B 0X3.
