He was born on February 16, 1916 in Vita, Man. Son of John and Hafia Prokipchuk. He resided on the family farm in Vita until February 2003 when a stroke necessitated him being moved to a home in Emerson. He was a avid outdoorsman; hunter, trapper, fisherman, with a love to pick mushrooms, blueberries and cranberries. Jack's love of nature was gardening; watching over the horses, which grazed on his pasture; raising pigeons; and never without a dog at his side. Few could make a jar of salt water garlic dill pickles as good as his. Jack was never married nor had any children. He came from a family of ten children; Mike, Metro, Bill, Steve, Mary, Annie, Lena, and Doris; all deceased. Only surviving sister is Katie Arseny (Paul) from Emerson who both never missed a day visiting him in the care home. He leaves in mourning his closest sister Katie and Paul Arseny of Emerson, niece Audrey (Ralph) Burgess of Calgary; nephew Wayne Arseny of Emerson and his children, Braeden and Tatiana; Cara (Didier) Mammosier of Besancon, France and many other nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the loving and caring staff at the Emerson Care Home for all their excellent care till his last day. Never a complaint from Jack he loved them all.
