KATHARINA SANECKI (nee PACZKOWSKY) With deep sadness and heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Katharina on August 16, 2011 at the age of 90. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Zofia and Stephanie (Barry); son Edson (Teresa); stepson Stanislaw from Poland; grandchildren, Paul (Lisa), Adam (Aurora), Jennifer (Derek), Jessica (Paul), Mark, Barry Jr., Candace; great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Makana, Victoria, Jonathon, Brison, Edson, Noah, Joshua and Benjamin. She was predeceased by her husband Ignacy; son Janek; parents, Peter and Maria Paczkowsky. Katharina was born in Czornolisci, Ukraine on January 12, 1921. After surviving the Second World War and a forced labour camp in Germany, she immigrated to Canada in 1957. She worked at the Sharon Home until her retirement. Babica was a devoted mom and was known for her amazing Polish cooking and gardening. She also enjoyed knitting, sewing, nature and long walks. Her greatest joy was always being around family and sharing her stories of her childhood and growing up on a farm. Mom travelled the world before settling in Winnipeg. Katharina was a strong, proud, spirited loving person with a good sense of humour and a love of God. She loved her family and treasured the times she spent with them. Her legacy will be the values she instilled to her children. She enjoyed good health until two weeks ago. Our family would like to thank the staff, caregivers, especially Ida and Terrisita, for their love and compassion during mom's short stay at the Holy Family Home. Prayers will be said on Sunday, August 21 at 7:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 22 at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue with an Oblate Father as Celebrant. Interment to follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. WIECZNY ODPOCZYNEK RACZ JEJ DAC PANIE CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
