GORDON PAUL KRAEMER April 14, 1950 September 30, 2011 With great sadness we announce the passing of Gordon Paul Kraemer after a battle with cancer. He passed away with his sons at his side at his residence. Gordon was predeceased by his wife Valerie Kraemer (nee Ferens); brother Peter Kraemer; father Peter Kraemer; father-in-law William (Bill) Ferens, and mother-in-law Anne Ferens. He leaves behind his children, Damian and Justin; sister Barbra Kofler, sister-in-law Sandra Ferens; brother-in-law Scott Bellis; nieces and nephews, Zoe, Lydia, Ethan, Mark, Kathy, Tim, Michael and Kevin; as well as countless friends. Gordon worked for the Manitoba government for most of his life, and also served his local community with dedication. During his time with the Manitoba government he became involved with the Manitoba Marketing Network (M.M.N.). As the Executive Director for many years he helped co-ordinate volunteer business leaders in supporting entrepreneurs who needed assistance with marketing efforts. In his local community, he served on Council for the rural municipality of West St. Paul for 14 years, helping West St. Paul through difficult situations like the flood of the century in 1997. He enjoyed supporting celebrations of the community (like Canada Day festivities) and assisted in grass-roots initiatives like Riverdale Fun Days to facilitate interaction between members of the community. Beyond supporting these communities, Gordon found time to enjoy golfing, and always knew the status of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers Football Club and its players, better than most of its coaches. Other pastimes he enjoyed include skiing, swimming and (ac)counting things. Above all else, he valued family time with his wife and two sons. A Celebration of Gordon's Life will be held on Friday, October 7 at 3:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Cremation will take place earlier at a private event. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his name to a registered charity of your choice, that represents the ideals of community to you. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Met Gord at St. Joe's church and went to school with older brother Peter. Met him at university as we were attending same course. Last met him at Peter's funeral. We didn't subscribe to any papers so missed his passing. Looking back, remember my grandmother from US used to talk to his father and grandfather in the late 1950's after church, believe from same area. My condolences to the family. Gord always had a warm, welcoming smile and so outgoing and this is what I will remember about him. - Posted by: colin dederick (Church and St. Paul's University friend) on: Jan 27, 2013
