BONNIE PULS With family by her side, Bonnie peacefully lost her battle to cancer October 18, 2011, shortly after celebrating her 62nd birthday. Left to cherish her memory are, her husband of 38 years Rudy, her son Brian (Don), daughter Amy (Chris) and grandchildren Maizey and Shaun, sister-in-law, Marlene Puls, mother Doris, brother Grant (Karen), sister Leila (Cliff) and nephews. Bonnie was born in 1949, however life truly began in 1973 when she married Rudy. Life continued to get better with the birth of their two children Brian and Amy, and eventually grandchildren Maizey and Shaun. Bonnie began her teaching career in Miami, MB, and continued on to St. James, and then retired in 2005 from the Seine River School Division. Bonnie found her career to be very fulfilling, and enjoyed running into former students while out in the community. Bonnie was an avid reader and enjoyed starting the book club at school for the students where she could share her passion for reading. In retirement Bonnie enjoyed spending time with the grandkids. They enjoyed baking, crafting, and going on special outings. Bonnie also had a love of travelling. Since retirement Bonnie and Rudy were lucky enough to travel to Portugal, numerous times to Florida and Western Canada. Bonnie was able to enjoy sharing her last moments at home with her immediate family, which included celebrating birthdays. In her final days Bonnie continued to demonstrate her strength, Bonnie was a true fighter. The family would like to express appreciation for the professional care and compassion shown by: Dr. Chris Ogaranko, nurse Eleanor, Anjanie, and their team at the Buhler Cancer Centre. The care they provided was once in a lifetime, and will never be forgotten. A special thank you goes out to Mom's palliative home care workers, in particular Gail for her friendly caring manner. A memorial service will be held Monday, October 24, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Buhler Cancer Centre, Victoria General Hospital Foundation in Mom's memory. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111 www.gleneden-mb.ca

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I met Bonnie in 1972 on a six week tour of Europe. I was looking through some old letters after the tour. I decided to look for her online and sadly saw that she had passed. I ran out of money so she loaned me some to have my last two meals. She sent me my first telegram to wish me congratulations on my wedding in 1973. She was a fun person and I never forgot her. • Bonnie (Mom) i think about you often and when I do I can't stop myself from smiling. I always considered you my mom and not to replace mine because I will always love her but you accepted me as I was and welcomed me with open loving arms into your family and it is because of you that I will continue to speak about you often and smile as I do.Brian and I miss you very much. - Posted by: Don Puls (Son-in-law) on: Apr 13, 2013
