ANNIE KLIMCHUK It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of our dear Mother, Baba, and Great Baba on October 19, 2011 at the Percy E. Moore Hospital, at the age of 77 years. Mom's memory will forever be cherished by her three children: Barb (Ken Malenchak), Cathy (Doug McPherson), and Nicholas Mark (Andrea Pasichnyk). Baba will be greatly missed by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Kristen (Amanda) with their children Brooklyn, Braeden and newborn Tanner; Terence (Larissa) with their children Alyssa and Cody; Kendell (Dan Choromiek); Tyson (Kristen Rudyk), Carmen and Kimberly; also survived by sisters Vicky Klimchuk and Joyce Nahuliak along with numerous nieces and nephews who remembered Mom with Christmas cards and pictures of their children which Mom cherished. Mom was predeceased by her husband Nick (2004), parents Philip and Magda Finishen, infant brother Jack, sisters Margie Prychitko and Sophie Klym. Mom was born on a farm in Rama, SK September 6, 1934. She married Dad in May of 1953, farmed and raised their family in Fisher Branch. Mom loved her garden and flowers. Both made sure that our cupboards and pantries were never empty and thoroughly enjoyed visits from family and friends who also never left hungry and taking home a care package. With her failing health Mom's main concern was for the welfare of family - always giving and never wanting anything in return. That was her joy. Many Warm Thanks to Cathy, Doug, Mark and Tyson for taking care of Mom when her health began to fail. You made her very happy that she was with her family until she needed more care. Also heartfelt Thank You to the doctors and nurses at Percy E. Moore Hospital, Donna Lindal, Peguis Home Care, Oak Bank Home Care staff, family and friends for their support, compassion, care and visits to Mom. At Mom's request cremation has taken place and a funeral service will be at the St. Anthony's Church on October 29, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with interment at the Zbaraz Cemetery with Father Walter Klimchuk officiating. God saw you getting tired, the cure was not to be. So He closed His arms around you and whispered, Come With Me . You suffered much in silence, your spirit did not bend. You faced your pain with courage until the very end. You tried so hard to stay with us, your fight was all in vain. God took you to His loving home and freed you from all pain. Give Dad a huge hug for us Mom!! In my Ukrainian mother's garden In my Ukrainian mother's garden, parasols of dill sway in the breeze Shading plants laid out in rows, where my mother weeds on her knees. In my Ukrainian mother's garden, sunflower faces follow the sun Beckoning canaries to sing a song, as poppies and hollyhocks nod one by one. In my Ukrainian mother's garden, vegetables dictate the soup of the day Tender plants simmering in a huge pot, when the aroma of borsch invites one to stay. In my Ukrainian mother's garden, cucumbers playfully hide from view Peeking from vines that creep and crawl, until they're picked to accompany the stew. In my Ukrainian mother's garden, leafy cabbage heads sit on display Till leaves are filled with buckwheat or rice, then holubtsi brighten the menu that day. In my Ukrainian mother's garden, horseradish leaves rise green and tall Travelling underground the pungent white root, protests when grated and brings tears to all. In my Ukrainian mother's garden, potatoes are hoed and hilled in a fine line, when cooked and mashed with cheese yellow or white, then pyrohy and sour cream call upon all to dine. In my Ukrainian mother's garden, camomile and mint invade the fresh air Sharing their fragrances with everyone, as herbal teas appear with summer fare. In my Ukrainian mother's garden, summer days fly on wings of song Echoing strains of childhood memories, when carefree days were never long. Babas make the best angels. • I remember every day sitting on her lap and watching on the ol' TV and playing bingo or playing cards. My baba would have the best potatoes I had ever tasted. - Posted by: Carmen Mcpherson (Grandma/baba) on: Jan 22, 2017
