THEODOR PANCHYNIAK Peacefully on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Holy Family Home at the age of 91, God took back to Himself, His creation Theodor to be with Him in His eternal kingdom. Theodor leaves to mourn and cherish his memory his family in Ukraine and his many friends in Winnipeg, especially those at Selo Villa where he lived for many years. Theodor was born on August 25, 1920 in the village of Romaniw Western Ukraine to Marko Panchyniak and Paraska Kuziw. He spent his childhood and young adulthood in war-ridden Ukraine where he experienced many hardships and personal losses. Theodor spent several years in German Labour camps during and after the war. Theodor immigrated to Canada during the fifties and was very proud to become a Canadian citizen on December 19, 1962. He worked at various jobs in Winnipeg until his retirement in 1975. Theodor was a very active member of the Ukrainian community. He supported many worthy causes with his generous donations. He was a member of the Seniors' Club Zoloti Vorota, the Ukrainian Metropolitan Cathedral of Sts. Vladimir and Olga and its Brotherhood (BUK). Theodor enjoyed spending time with his friends at Selo Villa and later at Holy Family Home. He was very well known for his beautiful singing and cantering at various religious celebrations. He loved his church and would never miss any of the services. We would like to extend our gratitude to Dr. Taras Babick for kindness and compassion. A sincere thank you to Dr. J. Moncek and the nursing staff of Level 5, Unit 4 at Seven Oaks Hospital. A very special thank you to the staff of Level 5 Holy Family Home and the SSMI Sisters. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 22 at Ukrainian Catholic Metropolitan Cathedral of Sts. Vladimir and Olga, 115 McGregor St. with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Mitrat Michael Buyachok officiating. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral Restoration Fund.
