RAY ALLAN RICHARD FARTHING November 6, 1945 - November 19, 2011 With deepest sorrow we, the family, announce that on Saturday, November 19, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer, Ray passed away at home with his wife, Lois, by his side. Ray leaves to mourn his wife, Lois; his daughters, Kimberly (Rui), Kelly (Stephen), Terry (Carl); his grandchildren, Corey, Bradley, Brittany, Brooklynn, Hannah, Harley, Lucas; brothers and sisters, Norma Rowan, Harold, George, Donald, Martha Farthing, Leonard (Priscilla) Quigley; brothers and sisters-in-law, Audrey Miller, John McIntyre, Cliff (Wendy) McIntyre, Doris (Ed) Kuczera, Dorothy (Steve) Baker; aunts, Emma Waterman and family, Margaret Torgerson and family; nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family (Glen Matthew, Kim Penhall; sons Pat and Chris) and many friends. He is predeceased by his brothers-in-law, Tom Rowan, Sandy Miller, Donald McIntyre; sister-in-law Barb McIntyre; uncles Gus Torgerson, Len Waterman; cousin Linda Shellrude; and great-niece Kirsten Miller. Ray was born on November 6, 1945 in Eriksdale, MB to parents Walter and Alice (Dolly) Farthing (predeceased). He grew up on the family farm near Oak Point, MB until he decided to explore new options and left for Winnipeg. He met the love of his life, Lois (McIntyre) of Clarkleigh, MB and they were married on July 15, 1972. They made their life in Winnipeg and raised their three daughters in a warm and loving family. Ray always considered all his daughters' friends as his girls. He welcomed Rui, Stephen, and Carl to the family and treated them as his sons. When the grandchildren arrived his family was complete. Ray was employed at Dixon Bayco (Bay Bronze Industries) until he officially retired in April 2009. Ray was multi-talented, he could repair anything with ease whether it was toys, appliances, vehicles, or tractors. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. You slipped away, but not without a fight. Your heart so strong, but your breath so weak. You're no longer suffering. We will miss you and love you till the day we are all back together again. Our family wishes to express our heartfelt thanks to family, friends and co-workers for their love and support during this difficult time. Special thanks to Dr. Gingerich and Cheryl Greaves at CancerCare Manitoba and the Palliative Care Program which enabled us to take care of Ray at home. We would also like to thank Glen Matthew and Kim Penhall for all your support, you are a part of our family. Please join us in celebrating Ray's life on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 2:00 p.m., at the Oak Point Hall, in Oak Point, MB. MACKENZIE FUNERAL HOME STONEWALL (204) 467-2525 mackhome@mts.net
