Although our family is profoundly saddened with heavy hearts and tears; we understood that the Good Lord needed to rescue him from his pain and suffering. Domenico was predeceased by parents Francesco and Clelia, brothers Santo and Nino, and sisters Carlinda and Anna. Domenico will be lovingly remembered and carried in hearts and thoughts by his loving wife of 64 years, Clara; his children Francesco (Vicki), Emilio (Robin) and Marisa (Patrick); grandchildren Shiarra, Daniela, Francesca, Dominic, Kristian, Kourtney and great-grandchildren Karley and Alexandra; brother Luigi (Clara) and their children Franco (Sandy), and Clelia (Nello) and their children; sisters Ermelinda, and Lidia (Vincenzo) and their families who reside in Italy and also other numerous relatives in Italy and Toronto. He was born in Cosenza, Italy and immigrated to Kelowna, BC in 1949 where he worked in the orchards. In 1950 he moved to Transcona where he was employed at C.N. Rail until his retirement in 1984. Domenico loved working in his garden and took great pride in his tomatoes and grape orchard. But his greatest love was the love that he had for his wife, Clara, children and grandchildren. He was a quiet man that had respect for all who crossed his path. He was a man of immense integrity and work ethics. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., at Blessed Sacrament Parish, 710 Roanoke Street with a viewing one half hour prior to Mass. The family would like to convey their gratitude to Dr. Maharaj and all the Nurses, caregivers and residents of Oakview Place for their professional and compassionate care, and all the friendships that dad developed throughout his stay. The family also would like to thank Dr. Martin and the staff of 5N at The Grace Hospital for their excellent care, compassion and dignity that they demonstrated.
