Date of Passing: Dec 11, 2011
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT (BOB) WILLIAM SQUIRES February 14, 1943 - December 11, 2011 It is with a profound sense of loss that we announce the sudden passing of Bob at the St. Boniface General Hospital. Left to mourn Bob's passing are his wife, Terri (Calvez); daughters, Debra (Steve) and Sara (Devin); granddaughter, Amelia; and dear friend, Denice Whitford. An only child, he was predeceased by his parents, Maurice William Squires and Alice (Bridge). Raised in St. Vital, Bob joined the R.C.A.F. in 1967, and through the years working in the field of Construction Engineering, travelled to various military bases throughout Canada and abroad. He quickly rose to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer and reluctantly retired in 1997. In 1998, Bob joined the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires and worked security at the Virology Lab, The Grain Commission, Grace General Hospital and, up until his sudden passing, the Passport Office. The family would like to thank Dr. Sharma's medical staff at the St. Boniface General Hospital in the Surgical Medical I.C.U., with a special thank you to Dr. Ben and nurses Nila and Karen. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's memory may be made to the Salvation Army, a charity dear to Bob's heart. He will be forever missed and never forgotten.

Dear Debra and Family I am so sorry to see that your Dad passed several years ago. I have thought of all you over the years. I had lost touch with you when you lived on Braintree Cres. (it is funny how I remember the street). I am not sure where you are living Debra but I am in Barrie, ON. Again, I am so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing but thrilled to hopefully reconnect. I have just learned with some surprise of Bob's passing. We served together in the same squadron. Sunday mornings he'd always have breakfast at my house when he picked me up to go to the Base. He was a good and proficient Airman when I knew him and wicked funny too. - Posted by: Will Firth (friend) on: Jun 13, 2014

I am sorry to just now read the passing of Mr Squires. I am a cashier at Safeway and we always had a nice chat when he came to shop. He was also a pleasure to see at the passport office. I will miss his friendly greetings. - Posted by: Wendy (friend) on: Jan 27, 2012

I was deeply saddened to learn of Bob's passing. Bob has been a volunteer canvasser and poll captain in the Assiniboine North area since 1995. We appreciate his annual commitment during the campaign - he will be missed. - Posted by: Lynda Ruban (staff at the Canadian Cancer Society) on: Jan 13, 2012
