Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY MASLOVE (nee ZIPURSKY) 1920 - 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother and Grandmother Mary Maslove at the age of 91 on August 9, 2011 at the Sharon Home. Mary is survived by her children Hart (Barb), Cheryl and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband Ben, grandson Matthew Lemer, son-in-law Jay Lemer, her parents Hershel and Sheva Zipursky, her brothers Fred, Irvin, Abie, Mendy and sisters Rose, Cyril, Ida, Freda, Ettie and Evelyn. Mary was born on January 19, 1920 and grew up in Winnipeg's north end. She met her husband Ben after the war and they were married in 1950. Mary and Ben were happily married for 50 years and raised their two children in West Kildonan on Hartford Avenue. Mary's greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. There were many cheerful get togethers celebrating the holidays and other special occasions. Everyone looked forward to Mary's dinners, especially her honey cakes, banana tortes and pineapple cheesecakes. It was Mary's nature to make long lasting friendships throughout her life, friends she grew up with as well as neighbours on Hartford and Perth Avenues. Mary was a skilled seamstress, always creating the latest fashions. She loved to collect china and silverware and had a special fondness for Eaton's and the annual Birks Plum Sales which she enjoyed with her sisters. Mary and Ben loved their trips to Vegas and enjoyed dining out at Hys, the Beefeater and New Year's celebrations at the Winnipeg Inn. Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 11 at the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery. Our family would like to thank Cantor Dane and pallbearers Gina Maslove, Howard Maslove, Richard Maslove, Paul Zimberg, Murray Bellan and Mayer Pawlow. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Rusen and staff on Simpkin 1 at the Sharon Home for the wonderful and compassionate care given to Mary. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of choice. We will always cherish and fondly remember Mary for her cheerful and positive nature and her kindness to others.
