Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGUERITE ALICE STEWART Marguerite (Marg) Alice Stewart (nee Cooper) passed away peacefully, with family and a dear friend by her side, on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg. Marg had just celebrated her 90th birthday days before, enjoying the day with daughter Catherine and dear friends and well-wishers. She led a very full life and loved spending time with her many friends. Whether it was bowling, golfing, travel, singing in the church choir, playing bridge or helping out at a church supper, Marg did them all with zest and a twinkle in her eye. Marg grew up on Hart Avenue in Elmwood and attended Elmwood High School. It was there that she met her beloved husband Ross Halden Stewart as well as many life-long friends. Marg's love of music was realized at an early age and was deeply influenced by her father who was an accomplished violinist. While attending King Memorial Church she joined the choir as a contralto soloist and carried on as a long-standing member of Oxford United Church choir. Volunteerism was an important part of Marg's life and she donated her time to innumerable causes and individuals. This selfless nature was something ingrained in Marg and she was always concerned with other's well-being and what she could do to help. She touched many lives and those individuals and organizations benefitted greatly from her generosity and kindness. Marguerite is survived by her brother Jack Cooper, sister-in-law Audrey, daughter Catherine, son-in-law Bob, son Ken, and her beloved grandchildren Jasmine and Joshua, and great-grandson Liam. She was predeceased by her husband Ross and sister Irene. Marg would also want to recognize her many nieces and nephews whose company she delighted in. Marg was dearly loved and will be sorely missed. Many thanks to the staff and physicians at Victoria General Hospital for their care and compassion and to Ken and Gail Wilson and Marie Clow for their love and support during Marg's illness. Thanks, too, to the staff at The Parkway - her latest residence; her loyal friends; her Minister, Reverend Clark Saunders, and her church family. A celebration of Marg's life will be held this Friday, January 13, 2:00 p.m., at Westworth United Church, reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marg's memory may be made to Westworth Church Faith and Future Fund. THOMSON IN THE PARK 925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com

Warm and generous person who shared a beautiful day with me in 2004 when I visited from Australia: she showed me many wonderful family photos and spoke of Winnipeg days with my Mother, her cousin. I remember her very fondly. My condolences to all her family and the Cooper clan. - Posted by: Christine Hollingsworth (Australia) (younger daughter of her cousin Ruth STEBBENS (nee Cooper)) on: Jan 22, 2012
