ARTHUR JAMES DUECK October 15, 1932 - January 20, 2012 Peacefully in his sleep Arthur James Dueck passed away at the Gimli Hospital. He is survived by his wife Marion of 57 years, his four children Debby, Dwayne, Derwin and Derry, his 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the care givers at Gimli hospital for their compassion during his final days and many thanks to Dr. R.C. Patel. Arthur was born October 15, 1932 in Horndean, Manitoba to Abe and Susanne Dueck. He worked farming jobs in his youth for Ed and Edna Schwartz. In 1951, he moved to Winnipeg where he took a job with the Eaton Catalog Printing Press. In 1952 Arthur joined Western Grocery where he worked his way up to the head buyer position, a testament to his supreme organizational skills, knack for numbers, and willingness to take charge and be part of the decision making process. These were traits that would define Arthur throughout his life. During this time he met the lovely Marion, whom he would wed and became his life-long partner. In 1967 Arthur joined the Codville Co. where he worked as the head buyer until moving to Niverville, Manitoba and purchasing an IGA and Sears store with Marion in 1977. He remained in Niverville for a decade until they decided to move to Bluff Creek, Manitoba where they tried their hand at ranching. This was where Arthur spent his final working days until he and Marion moved to Aspen Park, Gimli, Manitoba where they retired. Arthur remained active in the Aspen Park community where he sat on the Park's board as the treasurer, organized the floor curling events and traveled across Manitoba with his beloved band, The Crazy Eights. There will be a service for the family to be announced later. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the All Saints Church in Whytewold, Manitoba.
