This is a tribute and a story. To my friend Philip. Of course my deepest condolences to his family! I have many memories and experiences with Philip. Three of which were weight lifting, playing classical guitar 🎸, and enjoying playing music on his incredible stereo sound system! Oh my, the sound was so incredible on that stereo! April 30, 1979, Philip convinced me to go see the progressive rock band called 'Yes' at the Winnipeg Arena. It was The most Incredible show I have ever seen. Of course Philip had to sit like in row two... LOL oh my God. The both of us were deaf for the next two weeks lol. I remember the sound was so full. It's was a force-coming out of those speakers, that that felt like you're being hit by a blast from a dynamite explosion. I have memories of Philip practicing his weight lifting in his parents home at Primrose crescent. He was so incredibly strong and dedicated to his weight lifting! I remember his sister Beverley and his brother Kenneth sitting on his back while he lowered his back from the horizontal, Wow! Philip and I went on some camping trips...one in particular was out to Westhawk area. I remember this one especially well because Philip brought his classical guitar. And I remember us sitting around the fire by the Lakeside and he would play his classical guitar 🎸 with the campfire on the background....beautiful....just beautiful!!! One of our camping trips involved going into the backwoods of Riding Mountain National Park for about 2 weeks. He had just gotten back from living and training at Shasta Abbey (soto zen) in The mountains of Washington state. While on this trip at the park, we spend so much time talking about so many different things that really mattered to each other! Looking back, I must say. I was very privileged to spend time and get to know Philip. As I write this in the year 2024.... I last was in touch with him in and around 1985? Gees, close to 40 years ago! I have very fond and dear memories of my friendship with Philip... Rest in peace my dear friend. 🫡💌 - Posted by: Charlie Roachj (Former brother in law and friend) on: Jan 31, 2024

Saw this only now in Dec. 2021. I am very sorry to learn that Phil passed away so young. I have great memories growing up on Primrose that include Phil. I remember taking the Arlington bus in freezing weather with Ken and Phil to buy records downtown. I also remember visiting Phil when he was the lifeguard at a high rise complex on Donald St. - until they condemned the pool. I remember Phil as a very nice person as well as a Star Trek fan and an avid music collector with by far, the nicest stereo in the neighborhood. I'm sure that he is vey much missed by his family and friends. - Posted by: David Ostrinsky (neighbor) on: Dec 22, 2021
