Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHEODORE B. ROMEYN (TED) September 18, 1942 - January 22, 2012 It is with regret and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ted Romeyn after a short illness in Arizona. We are comforted that his life partner, Sandy, was by his side. Ted was predeceased by his father, James Augustus Romeyn and his mother, Florence Friedman. (nee Andison) Ted attended Appleby College where he was a superb athlete and top scholar. He attended the University of Toronto after declining an opportunity to try out for the Edmonton Eskimos. He graduated with a degree in Industrial Engineering, also with top academic honours. While he was at university Ted was a song and dance man, participating in all aspects of musical and variety show productions. He played guitar and keyboards in his band, The Lymphatics . Ted was a man of multiple talents. He was a radio announcer, and went on to achieve advanced certification in amateur radio communication. This led to his love of ham radio where he developed friendships and connections around the world. He also pursued a successful career in sales at Tax Save where he developed life long friendships. He developed an interest in technology and computers which allowed him to follow and participate in the news programs he loved. Ted had an adventurous spirit which led to him to pursue his pilot's license. He was able to complete his solo flight training. He developed a love of boating, sailing, RV travel and motorcycles. He was a world traveller. Sandy and Ted were able to enjoy over a dozen cruises around the world. He owned and loved dogs for most of his life. Duffy, Whiskey, Mayday and Rerun are now his companions. After his move to Kelowna BC, he devoted his time and energy to the Ride For Dad Fundraiser for prostate cancer. He also became an ambassador at the Kelowna Airport and helped thousands of travelers. The highlight of Ted's life was his love and relationship with Sandy Gibbs. He enjoyed his role as Grandpa and spoke often of his love for his granddaughter Alexis and his time with Sandy's daughter Rebecca (Chris). Ted also enjoyed spending time with Sandy's son, Johnny (Brittney) discussing the movie stunts that Johnny coordinates. Ted took a great interest in his sister Deborah's music career and was always offering suggestions and support. We will miss his emails and photo shows. He is survived by Sandy Gibbs and her family, sisters Deborah Romeyn, Joan Zimmerman, and their families, his cousin Joan and her family, and many close friends. Thank you to so many of you who have offered support at this difficult time, especially dear friends Yvonne Lowe and Dave Hartnoll. A private burial has taken place at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Kelowna. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ted's name may be made to the SPCA or your local Humane Society.

I talked to Ted on the air from Calgary for many years via ham radio and finally met him and Sandy in Kelowna. He was a very generous guy and donated a radio system to the Emergency Communications Center here on Texada Island BC. His contribution will make this island a safer place. The system is now in operation. I will miss his chats and his emails. Sandy, our condolences to you and your family...73 Ted - Posted by: Jack/Elsie Paddock (Ham Radio friend Ve6ct/Va7jfp) on: Aug 01, 2012

My condolences to Ted's Family. I have many fond memories of our collage years. Ted was my closest friend throughout University. We studied together, played together (think Skule Nite) and just hung together for many years. He was the best man at my wedding. We travelled to the mountains after graduation. Unfortunately we gradually went our separate ways. We are saddened by his passing. Jim & Sandi Price - Posted by: Jim Price (University Friend) on: Mar 06, 2012

Ted and I had a blast one weekend in his rear engine Corvair visiting Jim Price at the Bruce Nuclear Plant. Ted and I skied at Beaver Valley Ski Club and drove our MGBs together in the late 60s. I remember Ted from his work in Skule Night. A close friend in the early years after our graduation. I am sad I will not see him again. I remember talking with Ted at one of our class lunches about travel insurance. He was a great guy. I learned a lot about him I did not know from the obituary. My condolences to the family. - Posted by: Rick Ross (Engineering Classmate) on: Mar 04, 2012

Dear Sandy and Family: We were very sad to hear of Ted's passing. Although we maintained contact with Ted and Sandy for a short time when we lived in Kelowna, we did enjoy some nice dinners together. Please accept our deepest sympathies at this sad time. Colin & Jocelyne - Posted by: Colin & Jocelyne Young (Cousin) on: Feb 29, 2012
