Date of Passing: Feb 21, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEVA MARION LORD Eva Marion Lord passed away peacefully on February 21, 2012 at The Priory in Victoria, BC in her 98th year. She was predeceased by her parents Samuel and Emily Welsh, her loving husband Ed, and brothers Howard and Ted Welsh. She is survived by her sister, Kathleen Powell, sister-in-law Elaine Welsh, niece Ruth Young, and nephews Jim Welsh and Bill Powell and their families. Marion was born in St. James (Winnipeg), attending school there, and later enrolled at the Dominion Business College. She worked for the Wartime Prices and Trade Board during the war, and then the Unemployment Insurance Commission, where she met Ed. She and Ed were married in 1956 at St. James United Church, and continued to reside in St. James until their retirement in 1962. They purchased land in Colwood, outside Victoria, and built their retirement home there. Marion travelled extensively throughout her life, setting foot in virtually every continent. She always said that she never saw any place she would rather live than Canada. After Ed passed away in 1971, Marion stayed in their home until moving to The Wellesley in Victoria. She was well known there for her baking, and often shared muffins and other baked items with her neighbours and friends. Her family would like to thank all her caregivers at The Wellesley and The Priory for their kind and attentive care. In particular, Bill and Lorraine MacMillan deserve special thanks for their friendship and devotion to Marion. A memorial service for Marion will be held at The Pipeline Church, 1792 Townley Street in Victoria on Monday, March 12, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind.
