EVA CRISTALL With profound sadness we announce the death of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Eva Cristall. Mom passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on March 12, 2012. She was predeceased by her soul mate and loving husband, Reuben; her parents Rose and Benjamin Hechter; her sisters Ethel and Betty; her brother Joe, and granddaughter Marcia. Left to cherish her memory are her children Maxine, Terry (Judith) and Susan (Barry); seven grandchildren, Neil (Lindor), Sherri (Jeff), Suna (Ian), Aaron, Elise (Stephen), Erin (Mark), Daniel, and 11 great-grandchildren Haley, Jillian, Emma, Kate (Alex), Hannah, Zachary, Caleb, Emily, Samuel, Kayley and Kara. She also leaves her brothers Ted (Gail) and Sid (Grace), and sister-in-law Eileen Hechter. For Mom, community involvement was a way of life. She was an active member of many organizations including Hadassah, Shaarey Zedek Sisterhood and Winnipeg Women's O.R.T. She became O.R.T.'s first Regional President. She was recognized as a warm and caring leader whose devotion and efforts were respected and honoured. Along with our father, she was a significant donor to the State of Israel where she and Dad dedicated many projects. Mom loved her cottage at the lake and her winters in Hawaii and, later, Palm Springs, where she tended her rose garden. Her extended travels with Dad, her antiquing and her bridge games were a source of much enjoyment but it was her family that was of primary importance. She was proud of her children's endeavours and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She kept us close and we will always remember her guidance, common sense approach and loving support. A graveside service was held March 14 at Shaarey Zedek Cemetery. If so desired, donations may be made to the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba, Eva and Reuben Cristall Fund or to a charity of choice.
