Dear Mrs. Goodwin, Cindy and family, I met your dear Mark several years ago at "Friends for Life." I instantly felt connected to him because of the humanity - the sincerity in his eyes...in his communication style. He was an amazing chef also, as we all quickly learned. He was always humble - never seeking praise or recognition for his efforts. In fact he avoided it. Instead, he quietly went about his way of serving others with compassion and respect. In the talks we shared we found out we were both born in Winnipeg (a year apart), and our Dads both worked for Manitoba Hydro in the same division (Engineering). They both retired the same year - 1993! I stopped going to the house about 3 years ago, and only recently returned a few weeks back. I asked about Mark at Sunday Dinner tonight and was told he passed away. I am so sorry for your loss. Tonight I looked for a site online where I might say a few words. I'm so grateful this one is here. May they be of some comfort. I noticed you lost Mark's Dad this spring. I offer my condolences to you both on his passing. I will find my own way of saying goodbye to your beloved Mark - a man I admired - respected and appreciated for his kindness and generosity of spirit. For now I want to honor my sadness - my grief, and take time to remember his beautiful soul! Jack Kilgour - Vancouver, BC - Posted by: Jack Kilgour (Friend) on: Jul 14, 2013

I was involved with the Diamond House when it opened as was Mark. He was a lovely young man who volunteered his time there. He was the breakfast chef there for many years on a twice a week basis. His breakfasts meant a lot to many. He always had a smile on his face. Although I have not seen him in a long while I remember him fondly. I hope that the memories of the good times you shared will help soften your very great loss. Please accept my sincere condolences. - Posted by: Esther Glotman () on: Mar 24, 2012
