HELENA RICHTER (nee WASCHBERG) 1917 - 2012 Helena passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at the Simkin Personal Care Home. Predeceased by her six siblings, her precious children Edward, (1983); Anna, (1999) and Joseph, her husband of 62 years (2001). Helena leaves to mourn her passing her son-in-law Richard Tramer, grandchildren Shannon (David) Golding and Jason (Jonie) Tramer; nephew David (Gail) Halbrich, their children Michelle and Alon, and a circle of friends. Helena was born in Poland where she met and married Joseph in 1939. During the War, they fled to Russia to escape Nazi persecution, working in work camps there until the end of the war when they returned to Poland to raise their two children, Edward and Anne. In 1970, the family immigrated to Winnipeg. Helena will be remembered as a thoughtful and loving person who made friends easily and adored her family, especially her grandchildren. Her bright smile and warm words will be dearly missed. The family gratefully acknowledges the support and care Helena received while living in Shalom Gardens; Helen Aldor (Jewish Child and Family Services); Dr. C. Yaeger, physician; Katherine Ritchie (Family Services of Winnipeg) and subsequently at the Simkin Personal Care Centre; with special appreciation to Dr. Koven and staff for their care and support. Helena and her family are indebted to Raisa Karelova for her dedicated service as Helena's care-companion. Funeral services and interment will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Shaarey Zedek Memorial Park, 230 Armstrong Ave. on Main Street. In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
