JAMES ROBERT MCKAY 1934 - 2012 After a lengthy illness, with family at his side, Jim passed away on Friday, March 23, 2012, at the Grace Hospital at the age of 78 years. Jim is survived by his wife of over 53 years of marriage, Blanche; his loving daughter Georgina (Rick); brother Keith (Doris); sisters Shirley (Bob), Marion; and special sisters-in-law Beverley and Bernice. As a young man, Jim served in the Canadian Army Peace Mission in Germany for three years. He was also with the CBC for over 30 years, retiring in 1995. Jim enjoyed traveling to many places such as Barbados, Trinidad, Jamaica, and Hawaii with his family. He could fix almost everything and was always more than willing to lend a hand to family and friends. He will be missed. In compliance with Jim's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. The family would like to extend special thanks to the doctors and nurses in the ICU at the Grace Hospital for their exceptional care and kindness extended to Jim. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jim's name may be made to the Grace Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7 or the Gimli Humane Society, 33 Harvard Avenue, P.O. Box 1999, Gimli, MB R0C 1B0.
