LAWRENCE WALTER MYDYNSKI
Date of Passing: Mar 19, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLAWRENCE WALTER MYDYNSKI After an extended illness our beloved husband and father, Lawrence (Lindy) Walter Mydynski, passed away at Nanaimo General Hospital on Monday, March 19, 2012. Left to mourn and remember him are: his wife of more than 60 years, Louise (Karklin), his daughters Linda and Janice, his son-in-law Kevin, and numerous nieces and nephews. Lindy was born and raised in Stonewall, MB, son of the late Fred and Mary Medynski. He was the youngest of nine siblings, all of whom predeceased him. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War after which he returned home where he met Louise in 1950. They married in 1951 and lived in Stonewall where they raised their two daughters. Lindy worked for a number of years at Stony Mountain Penitentiary, then became a teacher and taught at Stony Mountain Elementary School until 1986. He and Louise retired to Qualicum Beach, BC where he lived until his passing. He laboured hard for those he loved, then left us to remember. The family wishes to thank Dr. S. Desai for his excellent care and many kindnesses throughout the years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation: 1-888-HSF-INFO (1-888-473-4636); http://www.heartandstroke.com/site/c.ikIQLcMWJtE/b.3479069/k.C267/Donate.htm

What a wonderful wonderful teacher. He taught four out of five of the MacDuff kids. I was in the last class he taught at Stony Mountain School. He was my grade 7 teacher for the months of September & October 1985 then he went on sick leave and never came back to school. Have wondered many times whatever happened to him. Heard often that he moved out west... He was one of a kind! A wonderful teacher...My condolences to the family. - Posted by: Heather MacDuff (Former Student) on: Apr 03, 2012

My condolences to the family. I was a student at Stony Mountain Elementary School in 1985, and was taught by Mr. Mydynski for a brief period. I never knew why he left after a few months, but looks like he went to retire and live the good life in BC. Thanks for the memories. - Posted by: Michael Paulic (Student) on: Apr 03, 2012

Many times I came to Lindy's house to visit and do school work with Janice. Lindy always had something witty to say, and always tried to catch me in word play. He was a man that I always enjoyed talking to, and I looked forward to seeing him when I went there. My condolences to the family. My heart goes out to you and I pray that God comforts you in this time of sorrow. - Posted by: Barry Gefreiter (Friend of Janice) on: Mar 31, 2012

Louise and Family, Please accept our deep sympathy on the loss of your husband and father. Our days working with Lindy are memorable. David and Lindy were always up to something that would make our days interesting. Lindy was a favorite for our children when we visited. I remember Jeff crawling on top of Lindy when he was very little and Lindy enjoying every minute of the encounter. Lindy made us laugh with all his jokes and his little tricks. We always meant to make the trip to BC but alas our baseball tournaments did not take us there so we did not get the opportunity to visit you in your BC home. We will always remember Lindy as the great friend he was. He is probably telling the other angels some jokes right now, keeping them in stitches. Our thoughts are with you at this time.
