DOROTHY ENNIS (nee PRIMMETT) May 19, 1939 March 30, 2012 On Friday, March 30, 2012 my mother's journey with lung cancer ended at the age of 72 years. Michael and William lost not only their grandmother but their friend. I lost my hero. She will be lovingly remembered and we miss her dearly. She worked for Great West Life, McDiarmid Lumber and Sears. In 1999, she moved to Calgary to be closer to her grandsons. She was chief cook in the house and chauffer for her grandsons for many years. Her sandwiches were famous amongst her grandson's friends. This was because the boys would sell their school lunches to their friends (who were more than willing to pay for a grandma sandwich ). She is survived by her daughter Debbie Lyon; her grandsons William and Michael Lyon; great-grandson Ethan Lyon and Tash Gallagher (Ethan's mom) whom she considered her granddaughter. She was predeceased by her parents Alfred and Gertie Primmett. At her request there will be no funeral. In October, we will have private family remembrance celebrating her life. We invite you to email littlebear7069@gmail.com your stories about her or prayers we can read at that time. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to the charity of your choice. We would like to thank Dr. Heally, Sue Pearce and Southwood Hospice for all their tender loving care and compassion. Thank you so much to our friends who have given our family so much support. It was needed and greatly appreciated. What Cancer Cannot Do.. Cancer is so limited. It cannot cripple love It cannot shatter hope It cannot erode faith It cannot destroy peace It cannot kill friendship It cannot supress memories It cannot silence courage It cannot invade the soul It cannot steal eternal life It cannot conquer the spirit ~anonymous In living memory of Dorothy Ennis, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. CALGARY, AB Telephone: 1-800-661-1599.

  • I knew Dorothy from my first days of working at Great-West Life and then I moved right next door to her at Water's Edge in St. Vital and carpooled with her to work. I remember her fun sense of humour and the kindness she always showed to me and everyone else who came in contact with her. I was sorry to have lost touch with her and have thought of her often. Debbie and family, Ian and I are so sorry for your loss. We know how devastating losing a loved one to cancer can be. - Posted by: Kathy Stevenson (Former Co-Worker, Former Neighbour) on: Apr 16, 2012
