Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE A. HEATON July 21, 1928 April 12, 2012 Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, with his family by his side, George passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2012. Dad will be forever loved and greatly missed by his wife Dorothy; children Ellen, Nancy (John) and Jim (Maisie); grandchildren Matheu, Ellen, Stuart, Mitchel and Brianna. He will also be lovingly remembered by his sister Mary (Charlie), sister-in-law Joan, brothers-in-law Grant and Michael, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Dad was predeceased by his parents and sisters Doreen and Jane. George was born and raised in Toronto. He spent time in Regina and Edmonton with the RCMP and in Toronto with the Toronto City Police force. On September 6, 1952, he married the love of his life, Dorothy. George returned to school and started his business career with Dominion Bridge in Montreal. Moving to Winnipeg in 1965, he worked with Manitoba Bridge Engineering and The Canadian Institute of Management. He then began his own businesses, George Heaton Associates and Blanchard Training Development Canada. Winnipeg became George and Dorothy's home and where they raised their children. Dad was a member of the South Winnipeg Kiwanis for many years and enjoyed his association with his friends. The cottage at Lake of the Woods brought him great joy and he felt privileged to take a number of his retirement years there. He loved golf with his three old cronies and playing bridge with his friends at the condo. He dearly loved his grandchildren, attending many school concerts and sporting events. A Celebration of George's Life will be held on Monday, April 16, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Peter's Anglican Church, 755 Elm Street. Our sincere thanks and appreciation to all the wonderful caregivers on 5N at the Victoria General Hospital, and a very special thanks to Linda, our home care provider, who became our friend. In lieu of flowers, donations in George's memory may be made to the Victoria General Hospital Foundation, 2340 Pembina Highway, Winnipeg, MB R3T 2E8 or a charity of your choice.

I will always remember Uncle George for his kind advice. In the rare moments when you were one on one, usually at the cottage(s) he always had something supportive to say and a life lesson to pass on (how to build floating docks and dock cribs included). Many great memories. He will be missed, but never forgotten. - Posted by: Brian Feeney (Nephew) on: Apr 16, 2012
