Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJENNIFER MAKRECKY (nee HARRISON) Peacefully at her home in Belfast, Maine on April 12, 2012, surrounded by family, Jennifer Jane Makrecky, age 59, passed away after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Jennifer was predeceased by her parents, Peter James Harrison (1978) and Joan Etta Harrison (2011). She is survived by her husband Steven Makrecky; son Steven Herbert (Kim) of Woodinville, WA; sister Marietta Hildreth of Almonte, ON; brother Geoffrey Harrison (Laurel) of Toronto and sister Pam Harrison of Orillia, ON. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends as well as her beloved dog, Ruby. Raised in Winnipeg, Jennifer graduated from the Winnipeg General Hospital School of Nursing in 1972 and spent the majority of her career working at the Richmond General Hospital in Richmond, BC as an obstetrical nurse. She was a leader in her field and was highly regarded by all who worked with her. She retired in 2007 and moved to Maine where she and Steve planned to enjoy their mutual love of nature, gardening and travel. Jennifer was known for her intelligence, quick wit and humour. She had the gift of easy conversation that would make anyone feel as if they had known her for years. She loved a good book, the NY Times crossword and most any bottle of a good Italian red. A devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister, Jennifer's legacy to all whose lives she touched will be one of integrity, humour and love. In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

I was sorry to hear that Jenny had passed away. Since childhood and at times over the many years, whenever our paths have crossed,it was always nice to meet with her and to visit with her. My condolences to Steve her husband, to Steve her son, and to the rest of the family. I will send a gift to the Canadian Cancer Society.
