First of all...our condolences to the Tran family, our thoughts and prayers go out to you. I want to pay this tribute to Kaila because she has been a special part of our lives. I met Kaila, through my children and nephew when they were all still very young, not even in their teens yet. It turns out Kaila and my son had become each others very first girlfriend and boyfriend. Although, it was supposed to be a secret, I thought it was very cute how they thought I never knew. The first time I saw Kaila, she looked to me like a vibrant, happy child, who was always smiling. Looking at her smiling was contagious because regardless of how much stress I was under at the time, I caught myself smiling and happy too. Of course, I allowed the relationship to continue...she was an added bonus to my family, especially me. Many years went by and I saw Kaila again when my husband and I went for breakfast at a small restaurant where she worked. She recognized me immediately and she still looked the same...vibrant and happy with a huge smile, just simply beautiful. I chuckled and told my husband..."My little girl is all grown up." I made sure we went there for breakfast as often as possible just so I could see her. I finally asked her if she and my kids still had contact. She said yes via Facebook. That made me happy. A few years later, I heard the horrifying news. I was in shock, in denial, and I cried in a corner of our room for hours. Then I remembered what Kaila would've said to me if she saw me crying. So I smiled and instead of thinking that she's gone, I started believing that she will always be with us in our hearts. She had filled up the gap in my heart that was broken. Now I'm always happy just thinking about her and the happiness she brought us whenever she was around. We thank you Kaila for being a part of our lives and we thank you God for sharing Kaila with us! - Posted by: Mel Mesa (family friend) on: Jul 09, 2012
