• Terry being an old friend of 50 years ago, I knew his mother and family very well. Mrs. Berezowski even catered our wedding 47 years ago. Yes, she was a very special woman. • My deepest condolences to you Terry, Ken, Joanne, and Keana, on the passing of your mother, mother-in-law, and granny. She touched many people's lives, as she lived at St. Joseph's. She was more than just a resident, she was a strong, Ukrainian, woman with a great love for God, all people and family, as she used her stories and life to teach us all many different lessons. Just with you visiting her, and seeing Keana going from a little child to the young woman, that she has blossomed in to is very amazing. It is also with gratitude to St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, that even though she was not part of the large community, she was still part of the Church community as Fr. Damian continued to bring her Holy Communion, they never forgot her. It is sad to see Katherine go, because a another page has closed in the "Book of St. Joseph Residence", but at the same time we are grateful and thankful that she is with Him (the Lord) who has sustained her all these years. • I have known Mrs. Berezowski for over 17 years, when she came to live with us at St. Joseph's Residence. You could tell there were many different things that were important to her. You could tell she had been a caterer, which I don't think ever left her; she definitely loved her food, and would want to have porridge and scrambled eggs for breakfast at 4 a.m. She also loved her Ukrainian heritage, and her perogies and cabbage rolls. She said these weren't bad at St. Joseph's but they weren't as good as hers had been. Katherine was also a very devoted Catholic, in her faith and in her God. She loved going to daily mass and rosary, and on Saturdays when she was more well. She always appreciated Divine Liturgy, and the many visits from Fr. Isidore Dziadyk, from St. Nicholas, when he would visit her and bring her Holy Communion; even though she was away from the parish, he never forgot about her. She also loved her family very much, and not just her immediate family, she would talk about her sister-in-law Vicky, and other family members. But her family was very important to her, her love for you all, and your love for her too, which she experienced very much. She was very proud of you, and all your accomplishments in life great and small. It was nice to celebrate her 100th Birthday on February 15th this year. We would do a countdown of days the last month prior to her 100th Birthday on nights. She has seen much in her lifetime and experienced much change also, especially even with the sudden passing of your father Tony. It was quite a blessing to be on with her and with you, when she left and passed away the other morning, as she took her final breath when the Lord called her home from St. Joseph's to be with him forever in paradise, where she was reunited with your Dad and Grandpa Tony, her parents, and her other family members. We loved her also very much, and she has left a void in our lives also. She is now at peace.
